Chapter 4 The Rift in a Friendship

Since the last time Olivia and Donna met in the park, they often encountered each other while jogging. Over time, they became acquainted and agreed to meet at the front door in the morning and go for a morning run in the park.
At 6:00 AM that day, Donna appeared on the community street on time. She waited a few minutes and noticed that Olivia had not yet come out of her house. Donna found it strange because Olivia was always punctual, and never late to their appointments. Donna didn't have a watch, and after about fifteen minutes, Olivia finally opened her door. Donna saw that Olivia looked exhausted.
"What's wrong? Are you sick?" Donna asked Olivia with concern.
"I just had insomnia last night," Olivia replied.
"Maybe you should skip today and rest a bit more," Donna suggested, a bit worried.
"It's okay, let's go," Olivia managed a faint smile.
Donna sensed something was off with Olivia but couldn't put her finger on it. They just ran towards the park together. Olivia was unusually quiet today; usually, when they passed the iron bridge, she would tell Donna stories about her past experiences there, but today she didn't even look up. Donna tried to engage her in conversation, but Olivia responded only briefly.
Seeing that Olivia wasn't in high spirits, Donna stopped talking and just ran with her. However, after a while, Donna noticed Olivia kept inadvertently running ahead. Olivia kept her head down, seeming lost in her own world, and didn't notice where Donna was. As they ran further, the distance between them grew.
"I won't be able to find you soon!" Donna shouted towards Olivia's back.
Olivia seemed not to hear and continued running forward.
    "Olivia!" Donna shouted louder.
Startled, Olivia turned and saw Donna catching up from a distance. She slowly stopped and waited for Donna to draw near. The two of them started running side by side again.
However, after a while, Olivia sped up again, leaving Donna behind. Olivia, a school sports star with exceptional athletic talent and years of training, ran with a capability not matched by ordinary people. Donna felt overwhelmed and desperately sped up, trying to catch up with Olivia.
Donna accelerated, eyes fixed on the front, and didn't notice a tree branch beside the park trail. Unluckily, a branch caught her sports vest, nearly causing her to fall. Fortunately, she didn't fall, but the strap of her sports vest was torn, and a red mark was left on her shoulder. Donna felt the pain immediately, touched her shoulder, looked at Olivia ahead, and felt frustrated and helpless.
Donna thought about calling out to Olivia again, but seeing her getting farther away, she gave up on the idea. Feeling lost, in pain, and annoyed, Donna's interest in jogging that morning completely faded. She turned and headed back, now just wanting to go home.
Unaware of what had just happened, Olivia only looked up as she was about to turn a corner. A few seconds later, she realized Donna was gone. Olivia looked ahead, no one was there. Then she looked back on that straight road and seemed to see a small figure far away, confirming it was Donna after running a few dozen meters.
"Donna!" Olivia tried to call out to her.
However, Donna didn't respond and continued walking towards the iron bridge. Seeing this, Olivia mustered her energy and chased after her at a competition-like speed.
